Newcomer Rajon Rondo high spirited to work with the promising Cavs, Darius Garland

As the newest Cleveland Cavalier Rajon Rondo has finally landed in Northeast Ohio, fans are ecstatic on the special influence he can deliver on the promising ball club.

And certainly so, in his first interview as a Cav on Wednesday, Rondo has nothing but praise on the franchise point guard, Darius Garland, in which many are expecting to grow further under his wings.

“Definitely a hell of a talent,” Rondo said about Garland, via Serena Winters of Bally Sports Cleveland. “(He can) score, shoot pass, hell of a playmaker and most importantly what I like is he competes on both ends of the floor, and if you have that on the court, I’m willing to go to war any night.”

The 21-year-old Garland has been phenomenal in his third year as a pro. In this 2021-2022 season, he’s averaging career-high in points (19.7), assists (7.4), rebounds (3.1), steals (1.3), free-throw shooting (91%) and field goal percentage (47%). Partly due to the unfortunate shutdown of fellow young stud Collin Sexton and veteran playmaker Ricky Rubio, he is stepping up his game for Cleveland and in the strong bidding of an All-star nomination.

Moreover, Rondo expressed his excitement to join the wine and gold hub and feed the skyscaping frontcourt cagers of the Cavs in the likes of Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, and Lauri Markannen.

“The 7 footers, I’ve never played with 3 on the court at one time so I’m looking forward to throwing some lobs and making the game easy for certain guys.”

“I’ve been an underdog my entire career and I love the expectations of being done or not expecting to do things … I kinda pride myself on doing the impossible, doing the unthinkable and this group has the talent to do it, and I’m looking forward to making some noise.”

As the Cavaliers are continuing to impress the NBA world in their season of uprising, a proven veteran like Rondo fits like a glove on attaining their goals of enjoying new heights of success and priceless progress. With him, sharing that rich experience, wisdom, and the all-time play making, the future is a sight to behold.
