“Some clubs starting to approach” Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka as Englishman begins turning heads

Arsenal’s shining light

In what has been a dismal 18 months for Arsenal fans, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe have emerged as dual pillars of hope from their academy. While Smith Rowe remains one for the future, Bukayo Saka is already one of the best youngsters in world football, and signed a new contract with the Gunners just last summer.

Still only 20-years-old, Saka has already racked up 93 appearances for the Gunners, and has provided 12 goals and 21 assists in this time. His all-round high levels of performance, across multiple positions, saw him taken to Euro 2020 as part of Gareth Southgate’s 26 man squad, where he found himself making a splash on the side.

Four appearances followed for Saka, including a substitute appearance against Italy, where he unfortunately missed the decisive penalty in the Final shoot-out.

Now focused on a new season with the Gunners, Saka will hope to put that miss behind him and continue his development into one of the best players in Europe.

Clubs sniff around Saka

One major sticking point for Gunners fans, however, is that the youngster will have just two years left on his deal come next summer. As previously mentioned, he signed a new contract in 2020, but this was only for four years, and this could yet be problematic.

As per the reliable Fabrizio Romano, on the HereWeGo podcast:

“Some clubs are starting to approach Bukayo Saka, as one of the best players in his position for the future”

However, he continued to reveal that:

“Arsenal consider him untouchable… they are planning to build on players like Bukayo Saka”

Should Saka keep up his strong performances, Arsenal fans will become increasingly anxious about his contract situation this season, with the club having been stung by players in the final years of their contract in the past. As a result, there will be pressure for the situation to be resolved before it reaches this point.

What will happen to Saka?
