Man United forward Cristiano Ronaldo shows class with gesture ahead of Young Boys tie

CR7 equals another record with appearance against Young Boys

Manchester United get their Champions League campaign underway with a trip to Switzerland to take on Young Boys this evening. With a strong squad named, Cristiano Ronaldo was among those in the starting line up, along with a rare start for outcast Donny Van de Beek.

Now, after being named in the starting XI vs Young Boys, CR7 has matched a Champions League record.

As per Opta, Ronaldo has made his 177th UEFA Champions League appearance, equalling Iker Casillas as the player with the most appearances in the competition’s history:

And indeed, it was Cristiano Ronaldo that opened the scoring in the opening minutes, firing home after a sublime pass from fellow Portuguese star Bruno Fernandes.

Ronaldo shows class by checking on Steward caught with stray ball

Before the game even kicked off, however, CR7 demonstrated his class as a player.

In the warm-up, a steward was hit with a stray ball that left him floored. First player on the scene? None other than Cristiano himself.

With the legend back in Manchester, he will be ensuring that standards don’t slip at Old Trafford, and only a brave man would bet against the Red Devils bringing some form of silverware back to the Theatre of Dreams this season.
