Chelsea boss Tuchel beats Klopp & more to German Manager of the Year

Chelsea boss Tuchel beats Jurgen Klopp & more to prestigious award

Thomas Tuchel, manager of Premier League giants Chelsea, has clinched a highly sought after award in his home country of Germany.

Blues stint

Ex-Borussia Dortmund boss Tuchel of course made the move to England this past January.

After an altogether underwhelming opening to the campaign under the guidance of club legend Frank Lampard, Chelsea opted to hand the reins to the German, who had been sent on his way by Paris Saint-Germain just a month earlier.

And to say that Tuchel went on to enjoy a fruitful first half-season in West London would be putting it lightly.

The 47-year-old guided Chelsea both to a top-4 finish in the Premier League (a goal which had at one point looked dead in the water), and the finale of the FA Cup.

Without question Tuchel’s crowning achievement, though, came in the form of a Champions League triumph late in May.

After guiding the Pensioners beyond the likes of Atletico and Real Madrid, the 47-year-old came up trumps in yet another showdown with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, en route to a 1-0 victory in Porto, and ensuing European glory.

Klopp beaten out

And, as outlined above, on Sunday, silverware has since continued to come the way of Chelsea’s beloved new boss.

This time, though, the accolade comes in the form of an individual one.

As confirmed online, Tuchel has been named the German Manager of the Year, beating out competition from the likes of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and ex-Bayern Munich tactician Hansi Flick:
