Bjorkgren was informed today of the franchise’s decision to dismiss him after he met with management on June 8, as the Pacers are expected to pursue a more experienced, established head coach in this process to replace Bjorkgren, who lost the locker room and much of the organization in his one year as coach, notes Wojnarowski.

The Pacers are expected to show interest in former Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

This year, the Pacers saw their six-year playoff streak come to an end after they went 34-38 and lost to the Washington Wizards in the play-in game.

The Pacers have a talented roster to be a solid contender in the Eastern Conference with players like Domantas Sabonis, Malcolm Brogdon, Caris LeVert, T.J. Warren and Myles Turner.

As for Bjorkgren’s future, the expectation is that he will join Nick Nurse’s Team Canada staff for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament later this month in Victoria, Canada and then there’s a good chance that he will end up back as an assistant with the Raptors, notes Josh Lewenberg of TSN.ca.

There are now four head coaching vacancies in the NBA that includes the Pacers, Trail Blazers, Orlando Magic and Boston Celtics, and the second round of playoffs is still going on.
