Ruben Neves latest ahead of Wolves’ meeting with Burnley

Ruben Neves

An update on the fitness of Wolverhampton Wanderers star Ruben Neves has been forthcoming on Thursday afternoon.

Clarets clash

Nuno Espirito Santo and co. are set to return to action on Sunday.

Wolves will welcome Burnley to Molineux, for a Premier League showdown.

The West Midlands outfit of course head into the weekend’s action on the back of a much needed upturn in form over the last couple of weeks, having brought to an end a 5-game winless streak courtesy of respective downings of Fulham and Sheffield United.

In turn, Wolves have climbed a full 14 points clear of the relegation zone, all but securing their top-flight status for another season.

Their opponents this weekend, on the other hand, sit considerably closer to the danger zone.

As things stand, Burnley remain precariously in 17th, six points clear of Scott Parker’s Fulham.

Neves latest

As such, Nuno Espirito Santo will no doubt be expecting a testing afternoon’s work, when the Clarets visit Molineux in three days’ time.

Ahead of the crunch clash, though, on Thursday, Wolves have been handed a boost.

This comes in the form of an update on the wellbeing of star midfielder Ruben Neves.

Neves was forced to sit out the club’s meeting with Sheffield United last time out, after returning a positive test for Covid-19.

The Portuguese international’s participation this weekend was therefore also thrown into doubt, with Neves having entered into a period of self isolation.

As confirmed by the reliable Joe Edwards of the Express and Star, though, the 24-year-old is now primed to return, and ‘could play a part against the Clarets at Molineux’.
