Pau Gasol officially signing with FC Barcelona

Six-time NBA All-Star and two-time champion Pau Gasol will sign with FC Barcelona, he announced on Twitter.
“Very happy to come home,” Gasol tweeted. “I’m very happy to announce that I’m coming home and that I’ll soon join the ranks of Barça’s basketball team. … I’m happy to return to the club where I began, and I’m excited about this new opportunity: I hope to contribute to the first team very soon.”
There were recent rumors that the 40-year-old was reportedly reuniting with Barcelona, but Gasol denied the rumors were true.
It appears that he wanted to announce the news on his own terms.
Gasol last played for Barcelona in 2001 when he was a teammate of Barcelona’s current head coach, Sarunas Jasikevicius.
After dealing with injuries over the last couple years, Gasol hasn’t played in the NBA since the 2018-2019 season when he played 27 games for the San Antonio Spurs and three games for the Milwaukee Bucks.
Gasol has also previously expressed his desire to represent Spain one more time at the Olympics.
