Fortnite is a game in which every moment and decision makes the difference between an early death and a Victory Royale. Heading to the wrong area at the wrong time can lead to defeat if you aren’t careful. Knowing where to land can start your match off on the right foot, potentially leading to a win.
Here is an updated list of the best places to land in Fortnite for chapter 2 season 5.
The best places to land in Fortnite
To help with deciding where to start out each match, we have the best places to land in Fortnite right now — at the time of chapter two, season five. This season features major changes to the beloved Fortnite map and has many NPCs scattered around to give you quests.
This changes up the game considerably, including the best places to land. Picking where to land is difficult, as a number of factors come into play. When deciding on the best locations at this time, we took into account the amount of loot, how many players tend to land there, its physical location, and general popularity.
Whether you are someone who likes to fight all the time or just hide away until most of the players are already gone, we have a starting location for you so that you can start out on the right foot in each match.
Building northwest of Misty Meadows
We start things off in a secluded location, just northwest of Misty Meadows. The building, as depicted in the image above, is located to the east of a bridge, and it contains a chest on the bottom floor for you to gather loot from. What’s useful about this location is that it’s out of the way, and it’s located in an area where there are lots of other chests.
Even though most of the water in this area has dried up from previous seasons, you’ll still find lots of loot scattered throughout. This is definitely a great place to start if you want to stay away from the heat of battle.
Pleasant Park is interesting because it’s often quite busy, but the number of buildings available to you makes it easy to stay hidden. There is a ton of loot to gather from the many houses in this area, and if you coordinate with your team, you can take out any opponents who land in this location by using sound to your advantage.
With the nearly dozen houses in this area that are full of loot, it’s no wonder why this spot is so popular, but during season 5, it seems to be less busy than you might be used to. This is ideal for those who want to get in, grab items, and get out. Still, if you’re looking for a totally secluded spot, this one might not be for you, but it can be a good place to practice since it’s not as busy as other locations.
Next up is Colossal Coliseum, a location that is extremely popular but one that features lots of useful gear for you to pick up — including Rare (or sometimes better) weapons. It’s definitely high risk/high reward, as this is one of the most popular spots of the season. Though, if you land just outside of the Coliseum, you can try to sneak in and clean up any eliminations while keeping your eyes peeled for loot. This is likely the toughest spot to land at, but if you can pull it off, you’ll be well-equipped for the rest of the game. Just don’t stick around here too long, as players tend to stop here during the later stages — meaning they’ll be stocked up to take you out.
Catty Corner (mountain)
You’ll find this landing spot to be less busy than in the past, as it’s out of the way of many of the map’s substantial changes. It’s still very useful as long as you grab what you need and head toward the inner circle ASAP. Again, you’ll find lots of loot here, as well as opportunities to gather building materials. Land here if you’d like a great spot to overlook a large portion of the map while still being close to some of the action. It’s also very close to Misty Meadows, which is yet another high-traffic area.
There are actually two main spots to look out for when landing atop the mountain: A smaller structure to the northeast side of the mountain and a bigger building on the southwest side that includes a helicopter and tons of loot and materials to gather.
Crater at the center
When it comes to the new areas in season 5, the crater is the best of the bunch. It’s placed at the very center of the map, and you’ll find a ton of loot and action here. In every match, you can bet that a lot of players will land here. If you are someone who likes being in the middle of it all and getting as many eliminations as possible, there is no better place than this location. It also has new and improved loot compared to last season.
It helps that this crater is close to just about every circle that pops up, so you will easily be able to get to the next area no matter where it ends up being — though you run the risk of being taken out since it’s such a densely populated area.
Hub to the north of Colossal Coliseum
Not everyone wants to deal with the stress of landing at Colossal Coliseum. If that’s you, consider landing just north of that location — at a small hub with a farmers market. The loot in this spot isn’t quite as good as what you’d find at Colossal Coliseum, but you’ll be safer if you land here, allowing you to easily stock up.
In fact, you can gather your resources in this area and then make your way over to the Coliseum to grab any cleanup eliminations. Part of surviving in Fortnite is picking your battles, and this spot is a great alternative to landing at some of the busier areas.
In terms of difficulty, landing at Salty Towers is somewhere in between landing at the hub mentioned above and the crater in the center of the map. It is heavily populated, but the verticality allows you to be prepared for enemies that might be nearby, since you’ll be able to hear them coming. The loot in this spot is well worth the trouble of landing there, too.
We recommend landing on the roof of one of the buildings so you can make your way down each floor while collecting gear. Then, at the bottom, you should be well-equipped to take out the nearby opponents you’ll likely come across. This spot, much like the others in the central area, is great because it’ll allow you to easily stay inside the circle as the storm moves in.
Misty Meadows is one of the hidden gems on the battle royale island that, for some reason, not as many players visit as you’d expect. You’ll still encounter some players here, but for the most part, it’s a large area that few players tend to visit.
On the southern end of the map, this beautiful town is wide, dense, and split into two significant sections by a bridge. Like Pleasant Park, there is a lot to see and loot here in this picturesque village. When it comes time to leave, there are plenty of motorboats to find on the large lake next door.
