This NBA season will be different from any other year due to the coronavirus pandemic. It caused the league to change the format of the end of the regular season and put the 22 teams in a bubble. Some prominent basketball figures said that this year’s champion will have an asterisk next to it.

Austin Rivers is also of the opinion that the winner should have an asterisk. Though for a different reason. The Houston Rockets guard thinks that this year’s championship will be one of the toughest ones ever won.

“I think whoever wins should have an asterisk next to it. But only for it being one of the toughest championships ever won. You’re asking guys to make 3-4 months off, then come bask and find chemistry etc. then play during a pandemic, while players are fighting for the BLM. There’s a lot going on right now. Crazy times and a lot of worry,” Rivers told Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report. “And during these times players are leaving their families to go live in a locked down bubble. So for all these reasons and more. I think it will be one of the more tougher championships ever won. Only season ever like this.”

Houston, currently in sixth place in the Western Conference, has already secured a place in the playoffs.
