Investing.com – U.S. stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher while losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the added 0.39%, while the index gained 0.25%, and the index lost 0.09%.

The best performers of the session on the were Walmart Inc (NYSE:), which rose 6.10% or 6.48 points to trade at 112.68 at the close. Meanwhile, Boeing Co (NYSE:) added 2.37% or 7.60 points to end at 328.02 and Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:) was up 1.75% or 3.03 points to 176.29 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 8.61% or 4.36 points to trade at 46.25 at the close. Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:) declined 2.22% or 1.12 points to end at 49.29 and Nike Inc (NYSE:) was down 1.86% or 1.51 points to 79.52.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Agilent Technologies Inc (NYSE:) which rose 6.13% to 69.61, Walmart Inc (NYSE:) which was up 6.10% to settle at 112.68 and NetApp Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 3.94% to close at 46.47.

The worst performers were Tapestry Inc (NYSE:) which was down 22.60% to 19.35 in late trade, General Electric Company (NYSE:) which lost 11.41% to settle at 8.00 and Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 8.61% to 46.25 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Kaixin Auto Holdings (NASDAQ:) which rose 35.30% to 1.88, SpartanNash Co (NASDAQ:) which was up 28.19% to settle at 11.46 and Destination Maternity Corporation (NASDAQ:) which gained 27.55% to close at 0.75.

The worst performers were Limbach Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 42.72% to 4.84 in late trade, Titan Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 37.43% to settle at 0.4380 and VERB TECHNOLOGY COMPANY INC (NASDAQ:) which was down 32.89% to 1.275 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1510 to 1505 and 27 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1582 fell and 1071 advanced, while 90 ended unchanged.

Shares in Tapestry Inc (NYSE:) fell to 5-year lows; falling 22.60% or 5.65 to 19.35. Shares in Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 5-year lows; falling 2.22% or 1.12 to 49.29. Shares in Titan Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 5-year lows; losing 37.43% or 0.2620 to 0.4380. Shares in VERB TECHNOLOGY COMPANY INC (NASDAQ:) fell to 52-week lows; losing 32.89% or 0.625 to 1.275.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 4.16% to 21.18.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.39% or 6.00 to $1533.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.92% or 0.51 to hit $54.72 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $58.36 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.1107, while USD/JPY fell 0.00% to 106.11.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 98.015.
