Now, Ng’s novel is making its way to television with a limited Hulu series, to be produced by Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon.

The Hulu show will have a total of eight episodes.
The show is based on a novel by Celeste Ng.
Little Fires Everywhere is the second novel published by Celeste Ng. The novel takes place in the ’90s and follows the story of two families from Shaker Heights, Ohio—the Richardsons and the Warrens.
The Richardsons are an affluent, picture-perfect family, while the Warrens, a mother and daughter duo, have a more nomadic existence and have moved from place to place before settling down in Shaker Heights. Pearl Warren soon becomes enamored by the Richardsons’ stability and way of living, and quickly latches on to them. Izzy Richardson, the black sheep of the family, has a rebellious spirit and soon meets Mia Warren (Pearl’s mother). Izzy is drawn to Mia’s artistic, free-spirited nature after Mia suggests a mischievous prank that she can do at school. Mia takes Izzy under her wing as her photography assistant, entwining the the two families.
Meanwhile, a custody battle over an adopted Chinese-American baby splits the town in two. According to the book’s blurb, Little Fires Everywhere “explores the weight of secrets, the nature of art and identity, the ferocious pull of motherhood—and the danger in believing that following the rules can avert disaster.”
